1. 下之對也，
   • Upper, a. 如 the upper story of the house, 屋之上層；
   • Superior, a. or n., 如 the superior part of the body, 上身（指部位）； superior officers, 上司（指班次）； superior quality, 上品（指性質）；
   • High, a., 如 high antiquity, 上古。
2. 前也，
   • Last, a., 如 last mouth, 上月；
   • Above, adv., 如 above mentioned, 上文所云。
3. 自下而上也，
   • Up, adv., 如 up to heaven, 上天；
   • To ascend, v., 如 to ascend a hill, 上山；
   • To mount, v., 如 to mount a horse, 上馬。
